Enrollment limited to twelve.

tart from single pages? Sounds like trouble, right? We are all familiar with "perfect" bindings — those stiff, glued, store-bought books that won't lie flat, and bust when we try to pry them open.

Fortunately for us, Tim is ready to share techniques he has developed in creating what he calls, "Drum Leaf" pages. This structure, designed specifically for binding single sheets, is one that Tim has developed in a long career of successfully binding his beautiful artwork into elegant volumes.

Come learn how to bind paintings, drawings, prints, mounted photographs, post cards, and digital print-outs into structurally-sound, flexible books. This binding style will allow you to utilize the conventional cover techniques and materials found in traditional case binding, as well as to explore the use of non-traditional materials in radical cover structures.

Tim will share information about fabrication and trimming, edge treatments, backing, spine formation, and board makeup.

You will practice by making a quick study, and then move on to execute a complete model. If you like, you may bring a sheet of decorative paper for personalizing the covers of your model.

(This workshop is not currently on the schedule. You may to request that we offer it sometime in the future.)
