Carol Barton is a book artist, curator, and arts administrator who has published several editions and has organized both local and national shows of artists' books.

She has conducted workshops at art centers across the country, including Penland School of Crafts; the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond); Center for Book Arts, The International Center for Photography, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City). She is on the faculty at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she teaches a book structures course.

Her work is exhibited internationally and is in numerous collections, including the Library of Congress, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Most recently she was awarded the Bogliosco Fellowship for a residency in Italy in the fall of 2000, during which time she worked on a book of pop-up Italian towers lighted by a small electric bulb embedded in the book's spine. This edition was recently published at the University of the Arts.
