Jeannie M. Hunt is an artist, illustrator and educator. Her artwork explores family history, sacred space and a sense of place in books that flip over, pop up and fold out into inventive and whimsical shapes.

While completing her art degree at Smith College, her book arts focus took her off-campus for two internships in the studios of local book artists Carol Blinn and Daniel Kelm.

She also received a grant to travel to Guatemala to research indigenous textile and paper arts and to create a series of artists' books related to the culture and the landscape.

Jeannie teaches bookmaking workshops for children, teachers, librarians and artists that incorporate creative writing, picture-book illustration, simple bookbinding, and traditional arts from around the world. Her workshops and residencies have been offered in a variety of community and educational settings throughout the northeast and beyond. She is co-designer of The City of Stories, a community-based book arts/oral history project that allows middle school students to tell the stories of local immigrants.

She is on the Mass Cultural Council residency roster, and lives in Northampton, MA.
