Art began his book arts career in 1979 working with Harold McGrath and Barry Moser at The Hampshire Typothetae. From 1983 to 1987 he furthered his typesetting and printing skills working with Dan Keleher at Wild Carrot Letterpress.
In 1987 Art established Horton Tank Graphics, primarily to print fine press books for Leonard Baskin’s Gehenna Press. From 1987 to 2005 almost thirty books were printed for the Press. Art has printed for many prominent artists and publishers over the years, including Barry Moser’s Pennyroyal Press, Michael Kuch’s Double Elephant Press, The Limited Editions Club and Granary Books.
