Founded in 1990, Garage Annex School provides study opportunities in the book arts. GAS became a nonprofit in Massachusetts in 2006, and received its 501(c)(3) status in 2008. We made this change in order to expand our programs and to be able to collaborate with other non-profit educational organizations. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We depend on your gift to bridge the substantial gap between tuition income and operational expenses, and to provide scholarship support to deserving students.

Recently a person who took workshops at GAS passed away. Her family directed that donations in her memory come to GAS with the stipulation that the gifts be used for grants or scholarships. Please consider honoring your loved ones by making in memoriam donations to GAS. We will notify the family of your gift.

Bequests are another way you can support GAS. While unrestricted gifts are the most useful to us—allowing us to use the funds where they are most needed—you may also make a bequest for a specific purpose.

Language for an unrestricted bequest:

"I give, devise and bequeath [(describe dollar amount, property, or proportion of residuary estate)] to Garage Annex School, Inc., One Cottage Street #5, Easthampton, MA 01027 for its general corporate purposes.

Suggested language for a specific purpose:

"I give, devise and bequeath [(describe dollar amount, property, or proportion of residuary estate)] to Garage Annex School, Inc., One Cottage Street #5, Easthampton, MA 01027, to [state the purpose]."

Important Note: If you do specify a use for your bequest, the following language will ensure that your gift will always remain productive: "If at any time in the judgment of the Board of Garage Annex School the designated use of this bequest is no longer practicable or appropriate, then the Board shall use the bequest to further the general purposes of Garage Annex School, giving consideration, where possible, to my special interest as described above."
