e don't have a fixed description of what we have in mind here—so we'll just describe the concept.
For years Daniel has regularly taught workshops for groups of people in which everyone does a set project. Also, he often teaches artists one-on-one who bring their own projects to work on in the studio. The proposed Independent Projects session combines aspects of each—a group of people working at the same time, but each on his or her own project.
Daniel has done this as weekly evening sessions for local colleagues, but this is the first time that he has offered it as a concentrated block of time. We're hopeful that the combination of convenient lodging and a five-day time frame will make this experience attractive to people coming from a distance.
Anyone interested in exploring the possibilities should contact Daniel with ideas about projects. He will help you evaluate whether or not your idea is a good one for this open studio session. Projects can be anything related to the structural and/or aesthetic aspects of books, boxes, folders, as well as support to design the production of an edition. The price is dependent on how much consultation time you will need. Having a conversation with Daniel should clarify this. He can be phoned at 413-527-8044 or emailed at .
There is a special procedure for registering for this workshop. Daniel will give you the information.
About one month before the workshop, registrants will receive a tool list, directions to the studio, and any other pertinent logistical information via email. Workshop hours are usually from 9:30 until about 5:00. Please do not buy an airplane ticket or make any other non-refundable payment before checking with us to be sure the workshop for which you have registered has sufficient enrollment.
